The National Engineering Academy (ATN) Malang was established in 1969. In 1981 it was developed into the National Institute of Technology (ITN) Malang, and was recognized by a decree of Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No. 0104/o/1983. In 2015 it got accredited status with B rank from BAN PT with Decree Number: 815/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/PT/VIII/2015, and in 2016 it received ISO 9001:2008 certificate number: QU160232.
ITN Malang is under the management of the Malang General Education and Technology Management Association (P2PUTN) Malang which has been registered with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia with Decree Number: AHU-52.AH.01.06. 2008 and Approval Decree for changes in management and supervisors Number: AHU-70.AH.01.08.Year 2013.
